Are You A Journal Keeper?

I have always loved to write and have kept a journal since I was a child. Above is a pic of some of my recent journals.

For many years I’ve filled notebooks with sermon notes and prayer requests and kept record of many answered prayers.

But in recent years I have learned the great importance of getting my thoughts out of my brain and onto paper.

The Word instructs us to “examine our thoughts” but how often do we actually take the time to do this?

I’m learning that with everything good in life it takes being vulnerable. Writing down the thoughts of our brain and heart is no exception.

It takes courage to put to paper the darkness we sometimes discover within ourselves which reveal both our hopes and fears.

But we know that it’s the enemy who works in darkness in an attempt to keep us bound.

Even though some thoughts create feelings that can be uncomfortable, bringing them to the LIGHT is where true FREEDOM lives!

John 8:32 “and you will know the TRUTH and the truth will make you FREE.”

Many people misquote this thinking FREEDOM is an automatic result of the truth.

But it’s not the TRUTH that makes us FREE but rather the TRUTH THAT WE KNOW!

It’s always AVAILABLE to us, but it won’t become a reality in our lives until we KNOW that truth.

When we truly know something, that means it now affects how we THINK, FEEL, and ACT. In fact, that is the proof for ourselves that we are “in faith”.

Our faith should always be accompanied by CORRESPONDING ACTIONS!
