Are You Challenged By Your Relationship With Your Adult Child?

Have you ever made passive aggressive comments to your adult children when they call or spend time with you about how disappointed you are in how little they call you or spend time with you?

I get it. You’re hurt. You’re sad. You don’t know how you got to this place.

What you crave is connection with your children. But saying, “You’d know what’s going on in my life if you actually called more!” is not going to produce the connection you desperately want.

If anything, it might make your child regret reaching out to you in the first place.

The truth is our adult children no longer need us to parent them. And I think that is a wonderful thing! You’ve done the work of raising them, disciplining them, and training them for adult life. While you will always be their parent (noun), you no longer have to parent (verb). Yay! When they make mistakes you’re no longer responsible for cleaning up their mess. You simply get to delight in them! Just like when they were first placed in your arms and all you knew inside is that you simply delighted in them just being. ❤️

You can purpose to enjoy this new season that holds much potential for wonder and beauty of a whole new dimension for the rest of your lives.

They may ask for advice and you may give it. But the best part is that you never ever have to stop cheering them on, believing the best of them and covering them with the Word of God in prayer! These things are forever your right and authority as a Mama ❤️

And, P.S. if you want to know what’s new in your child’s life, you know how to use a phone, too 😘 You can stay as connected as you want. 🙂
