Are You Disconnected From Yourself?

When we are feeling upset, sad, or lonely, it’s so easy to try to find things that will take our mind off of it.

We get on social media and begin to scroll and before we know it hours have flown by.

Or we try to ignore the loneliness by binging something on TV until we drift off to sleep only to face the reality another day.

Whenever we are busying ourselves with overworking, or obsessing over chores, or binge eating, shopping, or scrolling, and not tending to our deeper self, we are doing what is called “buffering.”

We are temporarily ignoring the thoughts and feelings we are having and we are disconnecting from ourselves.

And because the Holy Spirit abides in our spirit, we are also disconnecting from Him and our true self, too.

One of the first ways to RECONNECT with ourselves is to acknowledge our thoughts and feelings and even naming them out loud. This shows ourselves that we are important enough not to be ignored when we notice something is off for us.

No matter what you’ve been taught, it is not a sign of a lack of faith to acknowledge our emotions for faith is never a denial of feelings.

In fact, the best and only way to move forward in faith is to assess exactly where you are (not where you wished you were) and allow the Holy Spirit to comfort you before you ask Him to show you His thoughts.

His thoughts are His Word, and they will always realign you to your true self.

I help women every day with processing through their emotions in a healthy way and I can help you, too! Very often we are feeling lonely because we are trying to get our needs fulfilled by others and they were never called to fill that role.

When we learn to meet our own needs, we will release those we love most from the pressure of being something they were never supposed to be.
