I’m really proud of her!
This is me standing backstage watching worship in a hidden hallway completely alone unaware the cameraman walked by.
I was spending time thanking God before I stepped on a stage to share my marriage restoration testimony.
It took courage, vulnerability, and honesty.
It took pressing beyond my own comfort level, but that is what it takes in order to SERVE OTHERS with my story and my gifts.
Do you choose a “word” or theme or scripture for the New Year?
Last year I feel the theme of my year was “Getting COMFORTABLE with feeling UNCOMFORTABLE.”
Over and over and over again I had to allow myself to FEEL the very uncomfortable EMOTION of UNCOMFORTABLENESS!
And you know what? I’m still working on it.
Because I’m human and my brain constantly wants to protect me from awkward feelings.
One thing I’ve learned over the years I’ve been in ministry as an introvert is that doing that thing that stretches me beyond myself and COMPLETELY DEPENDENT upon God is the SWEET SPOT!
It’s only when I allow myself to be put in that position that the ANOINTING comes upon me and it’s so undeniable to me that it’s ALL GOD and not me! He gets ALL THE GLORY!
Because my flesh would rather stay home and snuggle up in my cozy cocoon. But doing something WITH GOD is SO MUCH MORE enjoyable than anything I could do on my own.
And in telling my story, I have truly proven what the Bible says in 1 Thes. 5:18 “IN everything give thanks; for this is God’s will for you in Christ Jesus.” Not everything we go through in life is God’s will for us, but we ARE called to thank Him IN it and not FOR it.
At the time of my deepest pain, I was not thankful FOR the fracture in my marriage, but because I was thankful IN it, God could PULL US UP AND OUT! And I remain THANKFUL IN IT every single day!
Thankful for learning and for growing and for second chances!
I’m not sure what you’re facing today but I encourage you to thank Him IN the midst of it, remind Him of His faithfulness to help you, and His faithfulness to keep His Word when you speak it over your situation!
