A few years ago, my husband and I were entering our 25th year of marriage, and while I was thinking of what a celebration of time that would be, he was thinking of possibly not moving forward with our marriage all together. How could this be that two different people had two completely different ideas about our future together?
And that’s exactly it. We were and are TWO COMPLETELY DIFFERENT PEOPLE! We each had two different FEELINGS about our future marriage created by two different THOUGHTS. Because our FEELINGS will always and forever be created by our THOUGHTS.
While he admitted that he didn’t know what we would do once we hit the soon-coming empty nest phase of life, I was in my own thought bubble of thinking how wonderful this new phase of freedom was going to be. There was a major DIS-CONNECT! How did we get to this place of such vast differences? Little by little is the only explanation.
We didn’t experience major disagreements or fights, we were just living our lives and doing our best to juggle all the responsibilities of child-raising, and jobs, home management and ministry commitments and lost sight of dreaming about our future. It happens.
But after 3 years of couples counseling, 2.5 years of life coaching and thousands of dollars of investment into US, we are on track and SO EXCITED about all the future holds for us!
