On the 9th Day of Christmas!

Did you know that you are NOT your emotions?

Whenever we hear ourselves saying things like “I am sad,” “I’m so frustrated,” or “I’m so anxious,” it’s the perfect cue from our brains to PAUSE and think about what we are really saying.

And ask ourselves, “Is that true?”

And then we can change those statements to, “I FEEL sad,” “I FEEL frustrated,” and “I FEEL anxious.”

It’s so important to remember that we are NOT what we FEEL.

Our emotions don’t identify us.

Feelings are a normal part of every human’s life. But we don’t have to let them take control of us.

They may be what we are TEMPORARILY feeling, but they will pass and will pass more quickly when we stop identifying with them.

We get stuck when we refuse to FEEL our FEELINGS.

Emotions are POSITIVE and NEGATIVE but none of them are BAD!

All of them are useful and are a gift from God. They will serve us well when we allow them and don’t stifle them. They give us clues and are trying to help us learn something.

They are like hints to show us where we have to re-align ourselves with the higher truth of God’s Word!

You may have grown up being taught not to be so “emotional” but be assured that God can handle your BIG emotions and you are supporting yourself now by recognizing, allowing, and processing through them. These three steps will serve you to take away the power of those feelings and put YOU back in control.
