For the most part, our family members didn’t get to choose us.
They love us because we are their child, sibling, parent, niece, aunt, or cousin.
They may LOVE who we are, but the connection was one that was made for them.
It’s so important to remember that our spouse chooses us as an adult because they fell in LOVE with who we are as an adult.
That in itself is pretty amazing!
Nobody forced them to make a life-long commitment to us.
They saw who we are and all the potential of what building a life with us could be and vowed to attach their ENTIRE LIFE to ours!
That is HUGE! And something we need to remind ourselves of when we FEEL LIKE GIVING UP!
Unlike an innocent babe, whose parents are unexplainably besotted with, our spouse CHOSE US with their eyes wide open.
They loved who we were and committed to a journey of who we would become.
❤ Pray with me today over YOUR MARRIAGE: Lord, help us to remember how special it is that our spouse CHOSE US. That they are a daily reminder and earthly example of Your truth that there IS a friend who sticks closer than a brother. ❤ When we can only see their worst, their insecurities, and their frailties, remind us of their BEST. Of their HEART, so we can forgive them and ourselves when we miss the mark. Help us to listen well and respect each other’s differing opinions with intent to understand better. Help us to not rely on each other for the emotional well-being and validation that only YOU can give us. Fill each of us with the knowledge of YOUR love and grace for us so we can then extend love and grace to each other. And always help us to see the BIG PICTURE of what YOU have vowed to build WITH US and keep dreaming about the future possibilities TOGETHER! Without YOU at the center, we can do nothing ourselves. YOU said marriage was a GOOD THING, so we HOLD FAST to that which is GOOD, in Jesus’ name, Amen! ~Be Blessed, Jenny xoxo
