Do Not Be Afraid

The Lord never promised us that this life would be easy or free of hardships and difficulties. While we are not OF this world, we do live IN this world, and it is a broken world. There is plenty of beauty and plenty of terrible to be witnessed. I believe it is the stark contrast of the two extremes that draw the deepest parts of our hearts toward others.

Why else would we be left here if not to share the beauty of God’s love within us with those who are trying to navigate this life without hope and love and peace? Those are the exact things that Jesus said He would give us and not leave us without.

John 14:27 Jesus said, “Peace I leave with you; MY peace I give to you; not as the world gives, do I give to you. Let not your heart be troubled, neither let it be afraid.”

There is a false sense of peace that we may feel when things seem to be going well or a certain pressure has been removed from us. But the kind of peace that Jesus left for us is a supernatural peace that can calm the turmoil in our hearts and minds even without any outward circumstance needing to change. It’s the exact same peace that He walked in when He was on the earth and angry mobs wanted to kill Him. When He knew men plotted against Him daily and He knew He’d eventually be separated from His Father on the cross.

Peace is the atmosphere of heaven, so when He ascended He left HIS peace here for us! To guard our hearts and minds, to calm our bodies, and to share with those around us. Whatever you may face this week, remember to draw upon His peace. Say, Jesus, thank you for Your peace that you made available to me. I refuse to allow fear to dominate in any way and I thank you that Your peace is upon me, and within me, and pours through me to all those around me, in Jesus’ name. Amen. ~Be Blessed, Jenny
