Perfectly Imperfect

Hebrews 12:2 “fixing our eyes on Jesus, the author and perfecter of faith, who for the joy set before Him endured the cross, despising the shame, and has sat down at the right hand of the throne of God.”

I don’t know about you, but learning the truth that I no longer have to try to be perfect is so freeing. Not that I don’t have to remind myself of this, often daily, that because Jesus is perfect, I don’t have to be.

When I am feeling pressure to be perfect, I know it’s only because I have momentarily taken my gaze off of Jesus. That’s why Hebrews 12 encourages us to keep our eyes fixed on Jesus, who is the author and perfecter of faith. He’s the only One capable of perfection.

The only thing about me that is perfect, is that I am perfectly loved, perfectly forgiven, perfectly chosen, perfectly free, perfect IN HIM.

The cross was the opposition Jesus faced, and He was able to endure because of the JOY that was set before Him. That joy was you and me, living in freedom. He had a picture of us on the other side of the cross! God gave Him that picture.

Whatever you may be facing today, be assured that none of it rests on your perfection, but on Christ’s. He already did it for you. He led by example. He was perfect so we wouldn’t have to be! Ask God to give you a picture of what is on the other side of that opposition you face. Then keep your eyes fixed on Him and His ability to see you through. He has sat down and we are seated right there with Him. We receive from our seated position. We are in Him and He is in us. We are perfectly imperfect. It’s the way He made it to be. All will be well. ~Be Blessed, Jenny
