Feelings are fickle. They can be up one minute and down the next. You might be feeling utterly exhausted or super energetic, lonely or hemmed in, exuberantly happy or down in the dumps. Feelings are a normal part of living in this earth suit. But we don’t have to be ruled by them. Feelings are usually an indicator of what we may be needing. Whether it’s some human interaction or a time of rest, a physical outlet, creative outlet or some extra time of refreshing in God’s presence. But we are never to be moved by what we feel, but rather by what we believe. That’s why it’s so important to have God’s Word planted inside our hearts, because some days it won’t “feel” like it’s going to work out, it won’t “feel” like it’s ever going to get better, but the Word is our firm foundation when everything around us makes us “feel” like we should just throw in the towel, we go back to what we believe. We go back to what God has said about our situation and it centers us and settles us no matter what we feel. Because be assured, feelings change.
