Creating Desire

You may think my life must be perfect.

But I will tell you that it’s definitely not.

There are some things I wish were different.

There are things I’m believing God for.

BIG THINGS.

But I’ve learned that I cannot wait till everything is “perfect” in order for me to enjoy my life.

God is a FAITH GOD and we are His FAITH CHILDREN, and there will ALWAYS be something to use our faith for.

But I think that learning how to enjoy and be content in the “messy middle” is the sweet spot!

Romanticizing my life is not seeing things through “rose-colored glasses” it’s GRATITUDE IN ACTION and it’s what has truly brought me JOY!! 

Joy is not a state of mind, it’s not based on happiness, it’s a fruit of the Spirit and we can develop it more and more each day.

The Bible teaches that the things that we choose to think on have a great effect on us, so CHOOSE LIFE.

We can make a choice to stop waiting for that new house, that new job, that significant other, the child you desire, the “dream life” and begin to CULTIVATE DESIRE for the exact life you ALREADY HAVE!

When we put our trust fully in God, when we trust that He will bring to pass the desires of our heart, sometimes we realize that He has given us something even better than we planned for ourselves.

That through the journey of waiting, He’s been working IN US something we could have never imagined.

He’s using the waiting to prepare in us the capacity for more.

When I look at everything I GET TO do with JOY and WONDER I am amazed!

I GET TO be a wife; loved and cherished by an incredible man.

I GET TO be a mama to two amazing adult children who have grown into some of the most compassionate and loving people I know.

I GET TO serve in God’s house and lead others with love.

I GET TO travel and minister to the Body of Christ and use my gift of teaching to build and fortify His people’s faith.

I GET TO nanny a sweet little angel boy who brings me so much JOY and DELIGHT and know that I’m bringing great value as I support his amazing family as they each serve those in their sphere.

I GET TO coach incredible women of faith where I can be present and a safe landing place for all they carry in their hearts.

I GET TO live in a home where I am able to create a cozy, peaceful haven for my lovelies, and an atmosphere filled with praise.

I GET TO.

Oh, I didn’t always think this way.

In frustration I would spend my days trying to enjoy all the blessings while ruminating on all the imperfections in my relationships, the endless chores of cooking and cleaning of caring for a growing family, the many issues that come with home ownership, or the insufferable climate of living in the northeast where winter seems to last 6 months and summer days are fleeting.

But the more I learned how to renew my mind the more things began to change and I realized that I had the power in me all along. That the quality of my THOUGHTS determined the quality of my LIFE!
