Are You Arguing With Reality?

Have you ever gone through a really challenging time and wished so badly that you weren’t?

Me, too!

In fact, years ago we were really struggling in our marriage, and the predominant thought that constantly cycled through my head was, “I’m so sad. I’m so sad that this is happening. What happened to my life?”

And can you guess what that created INSIDE of me?

Yep, SADNESS. 😦

The same thoughts kept looping and no matter how much I prayed for it to be different, it stayed the same.

Because I was in DENIAL, aka the refusal to accept reality, not the river in Egypt 😉

Faith is never in denial.

It sees reality and faces it head-on.

I’ve learned that the story we tell ourselves is ALWAYS so much harsher than reality.

Our brain LOVES to stir up DRAMA.

Because people around us respond and sympathize with DRAMA.

And we are need CONNECTION with someone who gets us, right?

“What I love about reality is that it’s always the story of the past. What I love about the past is that it’s over. When I argue with reality I lose, but only 100 percent of the time.” -Bryon Katie

To argue with reality is insanity.

When we do it is truly being unkind to ourselves most of all.

If we are asking God to change our situation before we see it for what it truly is, we are missing a vital step.

Because until we get to heaven, we are all enrolled in “earth school” where everyone and each situation is our teacher.

Fighting against the lesson makes it much harder to learn.

But once we accept where we are that’s the place where God can meet us and as we take His hand in ours and His Word in our heart and mouth, then He can lead us out into the freedom that has always been ours!

READY to walk with ME into FREEDOM?

READY to learn how to face reality with courage, boldness even, and RETELL the SAD STORY you’ve been telling yourself (like…if only my husband appreciated me more, if only my teens would respect me, if only I could please my mother-in-law, if only my boss would pay me what I’m worth…[I’m sure you could fill in the blank], then I could be happy).

READY to TAKE BACK YOUR experience of YOUR LIFE and start building with God a life you truly LOVE LIVING, even on the hard or messy days?
