Are You A Victim or Have You Been Victimized?

Are you a VICTIM or have you been VICTIMIZED?

Did you know the choice is yours?

These two books by Dr. Edith Eger, an Auschwitz survivor, have been so impactful to me!

They are FULL of wisdom and if you have a moment, I’ll share just a small sample of the life-giving, full-of-freedom, thoughts that Dr. Eger so vulnerably shares with the world.

“Suffering is universal. But VICTIMHOOD IS OPTIONAL.

There’s a difference between victimization and victimhood.

At some point, we will all suffer some kind of affliction, calamity, or abuse caused by circumstances, people, or institutions over which we have little or no control.

This is life.

And this is victimization. It comes from the outside.

Victimhood comes from the inside.

We become victims not because of what happens to us but when we hold onto our victimization.

We develop a victim’s mind- a way of thinking and being that is rigid, blaming, pessimistic, stuck in the past, unforgiving, punitive, and without healthy limits or boundaries.

We become our own jail when we choose the confines of the victim’s mind.

There is no hierarchy of suffering.

There’s nothing that makes my pain worse or better than yours.

Comparison can leads us to minimize or diminish our own suffering.

Being a survivor and thriver requires absolute acceptance of what was and what is.

We cannot choose to have a life free of hurt. But we can choose to be free! Make the choice to be free.”

If you haven’t read her books, I highly recommend them. Her life story of the survival of unimaginable circumstances and pain is incredibly inspiring.

No matter what you have gone through or may still be going through, you don’t have to be a victim anymore. You can make the choice to discontinue hurting yourself with the retelling of a painful story of your past in a way that continues to cause harm to yourself mentally and emotionally.

If you find yourself in need of a safe resting place for your heart and painful thoughts, please reach out to me or someone in your life you feel safe confiding in. Beginning to tell your story is the first step toward FREEDOM ❤ ~Be Blessed, Jenny xoxo
