How to BE where you are

Have I ever mentioned how much I love New York in the fall?! With all her many faults (like snow for 6 months of the year, high taxes, and crazy liberal ideals) she sure shines in autumn, I tell ya! 

There have been so many times we’ve thought of bailing, begged God for a different assignment, looked into, prayed about, and pursued opportunities in places with less of the three things I listed above. But, alas, here we still are. 

And we can either choose to be MISERABLE for six LONG months of EVERY SINGLE YEAR… or we can renew our mindset to see everything around us that is a wonderful magical gift. 

Now, I’m a New England girl, born and raised, and quite accustomed to cold weather, but upstate New York is a “horse of a different color”, nestled directly below a Great Lake which shadows us in overcast skies and lake effect snow all winter. So, I told my hubby that I am already choosing to get inspired for winter in NY by feeding on beautiful poetry and art and prepping the house for my favorite time of year for all things “hygge”, which, if you’ve been living under a rock, is the Danish concept of embracing the quiet comforts of family, and gathering for yummy food, and reading, and time for deep conversations, and art, and a cozy home in every sense of the word. 

And this preparation will help me to accept the 50/50 which life is because we all can’t live where it’s sunny 75 all year round 😘 And to embrace the little things, which turn out to truly be the BIG things 😘 

Where every day we GET TO be with our people, serve our people, love our people, and share this journey together, that is the miracle, my friends. ❤️
