When I read Proverbs 31, I don’t often read the very first verse that says that these words recorded by King Lemuel were actually the things that his own mother taught him. The wisdom of searching and waiting for an exceptional woman to become his bride and mother of his future children. Just how many generations have read and tried to emulate the wisdom revealed in these thirty-one verses? How many generations of mothers have prayed to be like this excellent wife and have endeavored to train up their own little girls to become one whose worth is far above rubies? Like Lemuel’s mother, our influence truly reaches beyond our own generation. Our words, our prayers, and our example will be seeds planted for our future generations to enjoy the fruit of. Plant well, mamas. Happy Mother’s Day!
