As believers, the Bible tells us that we ALREADY have the God-kind of faith residing in us. We don’t have to ask Him for faith, His faith resides in us whenever we hear the Word.
Romans 10:17 “So faith comes by hearing, and hearing by the Word of Christ.”
It is only by hearing the Word that faith can be built inside of us. Just like when you first accepted Jesus as your Savior. You had to hear about what He provided for you at the cross in order to have faith drop down on the inside of you and to release your faith in His Word in order to receive, right? Before that time, you didn’t know that you weren’t right with God because you hadn’t yet heard. You were just going about your business and were lost. But then you heard and everything changed forever! Some of us had to hear more than once in order to be convinced enough to step forward and publicly confess Him as Lord.
Our faith is a measurable substance. Romans 12:3b “God has dealt to each one a measure of faith.” What we do with that measure is up to us.
You need to continually hear in order to continually have faith. You may have faith that God is your Provider, but not that He is your Healer. Or you may be built up in faith for His peace to dwell in you but not for His salvation for your loved one. Because faith cannot come apart from His Word. You must feed on scriptures in the area you need to be built up.
Jesus taught the disciples (and we are still His disciples today) in Mark 11:22-24 to have faith in God or the God-kind of faith. The kind that believes that what He SAYS WILL come to pass and to BELIEVE that WHEN YOU PRAY you receive the answer right then (to you it is settled) even BEFORE you see it! That IS FAITH!
Meaning we have the ability to believe and lay hold of that which we need, if we only HEAR the Word, and release our faith by speaking what we believe.
So, don’t be so quick to pray, but rather quick to HEAR.
It’s the hearing of the Word that builds faith in us and once it’s built up, then when you pray you are releasing that faith and things begin to move in the spirit realm. You won’t see it with your natural eyes, but it is effecting change and it’s only a matter of time before it is evident to all.
Spend time hearing every day, so the faith you need is there and ready to change your situation. Because every time we use our faith we are spending it and need to gather more. We cannot live off of yesterday’s faith in the same way a steak we ate last week cannot nourish us. Doing it every day ensures that it is fresh, just like consuming food, when we hear the word it nourishes us and when we don’t do it daily we will be weak.
