You can’t make anyone FEEL your LOVE! Wait! What? But what if I give them a hug? Nope. Or tell them I love them? Nope. Or buy them a present? Nope. Really? Why? Glad you asked 😊
They can physically feel your arms around them but it doesn’t cause your love to ooze into them. Neither do your words or gifts. Because ALL FEELINGS COME FROM OUR THOUGHTS! In order for them to FEEL LOVED, they will need to THINK THOUGHTS about those actions you have taken. And that is completely up to them.
When you are unsure of someone’s authenticity, they may embrace you but you may be having thoughts about them wondering if they have an ulterior motive, right? And they may not. They may in fact be genuinely trying to express their love, but it’s those sneaky thoughts that create our feelings of distrust. So, FEELING LOVE is always an INSIDE JOB. We are in charge of OUR ability to FEEL LOVE, not others.
As a mama have you ever just watched your child wake up in the morning or observed them from afar and suddenly had a feeling of love BURSTING in your heart for them? It’s not because of what they were doing but because of what you THOUGHT about them or what they were doing. Did you know that in order to FEEL MORE LOVE in your life and relationships you can CHOOSE MORE LOVING THOUGHTS whenever you want?! Isn’t that great news! Our ability to give and receive love then has nothing to do with anyone else!
When we get better at daily getting filled up with God’s LOVE for us we will not expect it from others and when we do get it from others it’s a wonderful OVERFLOW of a GIFT! They don’t have all the pressure of being THE CAKE, every little thing they do can now be the ICING on the cake 🍰
So, if you’re currently not feeling the LOVE, you now know it starts and ends with YOU! And if you’re not currently FEELING God’s LOVE for you where do you think that starts? With your THOUGHTS about Him!
