Seek First to Understand

I truly love this quote. This is simply a practical application of the Biblical concept of ‘preferring one another’. If we strive for this mindset in our approach to every relationship, it can be a win-win where neither person feels the need to act offensive or defensive. We can trust that the other person is invested in ‘hearing to understand’, which allows us to each be vulnerable enough to share.

Philippians 2:3,4 (TPT) “Be free from pride-filled opinions, for they will only harm your cherished unity. Don’t allow self-promotion to hide in your hearts, but in authentic humility put others first and view others as more important than yourselves. Abandon every display of selfishness. Possess a greater concern for what matters to others instead of your own interests.”
