Have You Thought About Homeschooling But Don’t Think You Could Do It? I Can Help!

They say the days are long, but the years are short.

It is so true!

Childhood is a short season.

Homeschooling allows more time to enjoy it.

When you think about it, there is a short window of time to get to know your child as a child, after that, there will be many decades to know them as an adult.

That proves just how unique this time in their life and yours is!

I’m not a grandmother yet, but I have a feeling that what’s so special about being a grandparent is that it’s like getting to be with your child, as a child, again.

I was so blessed to homeschool our children all the way through high school.

In fact, it was a decision we made even before we were married that I would stay home and homeschool our children.

We wanted our children to have a slower-paced family life and an education that was tailored to their needs and interests with plenty of time just to be and enjoy discovering the world around them.

It was a lifestyle that allowed us so much more family time, which I will never regret one bit.

We learned and grew up together and it was a journey of faith, for they taught me some of the most valuable things about myself, my strengths and weaknesses alike, and I have received back so much more than I ever anticipated.

It allowed us the most precious gift of time.

Time to allow them each to learn the leading of God, to practice His presence, and to get glimpses of His wonderful callings and giftings within them.

I only taught them ‘how to learn’, not necessarily ‘what to learn’ (apart from learning Him and His Word, which holds all the answers).

And really, if we let them take the lead, the learning of ‘how to learn’ is already in their design.

Children really help us to jump off the government-imposed conveyor belt, to stop, to listen, and to engage in the discovery of all things new and exciting if we let them.

If we are all forced to learn the very same things, we lose our diversity of interests, thirst for knowledge, and the ability to teach others something they may not know. And what is life if it is not the sharing of knowledge and experience in an attempt to aid others on their journey?

Over the years I’ve heard many parents say things like “I’d love to homeschool but we just can’t afford it,” “I love my kids, but I could never be with them 24/7,” “I’m a single mom, how can I homeschool?” or “I don’t feel qualified to homeschool my kids”. These are sentences in our brain that keep us from moving forward. It’s our brain’s attempt to keep us safe from the unknown obstacles. And that makes perfect sense.
