As we celebrate our many freedoms today let’s not forget that “It is for FREEDOM we’ve been set free” Gal. 5:1. Our chains have been released not just so we can run and jump and be free, but so that we can reach out to those near us and release them from theirs!
Jesus was anointed to set the captives free!
Luke 4:16 “And He came to Nazareth, where He had been brought up; and as was His custom (it was Jesus’ habit/custom to go to church) He entered the synagogue on the Sabbath, and stood up to read. And the book of the prophet Isaiah was handed to Him and He opened the book and found the place where it was written, ‘The Spirit of the Lord is upon Me because He has anointed Me to preach the Gospel to the poor. He has sent me to proclaim release (liberty) to the captives, And recovery of sight to the blind, To set free those who are downtrodden, To proclaim the favorable year of the Lord.” Jesus came to set us free, but once we are free and full of Him, it’s now our job to free others letting His power work through us! Once Jesus is IN us, everything He was anointed to do, we are now anointed to do. He went to the cross and took our place, now we are free to show the way to others. What have we been set free from? From sin, sickness, anxiety, depression, poverty, and from ourselves; from having to come up with a plan for our lives. That’s the Good News! Don’t keep it to yourself! Celebrate FREEDOM and help others to get FREE!
