It’s never too early or too late to invest in your marriage! What better time to check on the health of your relationship than BEFORE you say “I Do.”
Oftentimes, much thought, preparation, and financial investment goes into planning a WEDDING, but not a MARRIAGE.
Just like with any big venture in life, when we fail to plan, we plan to fail.
When you’re in the blissful state of the dating and engagement period of your relationship, your brain fills you with emotions of love that cause you to believe your relationship is indestructible. No one wants to dwell on the parts of marriage that may present challenges and difficulties. Nobody makes plans to mistreat their future spouse. But the truth is over the course of a 50-60 year commitment, you will most definitely face hard things together. In fact, more than 50% of all marriages end in divorce (Christian marriages included).
The truth is you will sometimes be mistreated by your spouse and you will mistreat your spouse. You will be taken for granted by your spouse and you will take your spouse for granted. How do I know this? Because you are a human and you are marrying a human.
Marriage is a lifelong dance with one partner, laying down your life, wants, and desires because that is what it means to be more like Christ and that is what Christ did for us. If you want to be married you must have your eyes be fully open that THIS is your curriculum for the rest of your life! To not only LOVE the feeling of being in love but also LOVE what marriage actually is.
I would love to come alongside you as you embark on the most important journey of your life! To be someone in your corner to help you better understand each other’s unique gifts, personality traits, and communication styles, as well as uncover possible caution flags that may indicate future conflict, and give you some tools upfront to help you navigate these new waters of transition from being a single-player into a committed team-of-two!
