Should You Tithe From Your Business, Ministry, or Church?

My question would be…WHY NOT? 🙂

When we tithe personally, we are aligning ourselves with God’s best for us and showing Him that we honor and understand that HE is our Provider.

As an entrepreneur or the head of a church or organization, you probably receive a salary from that entity and can and should tithe and give from your own personal income.

But did you know that you can also do the same, giving ten percent off the top of the income of the business or ministry?

Yes, businesses, organizations, and churches are not people, but they are stewarded by people and as such can prosper when we bring them in line with God’s promises in Mal. 3:10. When we recognize that God is the owner and we are the steward, He is then able to rebuke the devourer on our behalf so that our businesses can be “delightful” verse 12.

The tithe is the STARTING place of gratitude. Because you are focusing on what He’s already done for you and not on what you don’t have! For we are much better off with 90% blessed (tithing 10%) than with 100% CURSED!

We can even get to the place where we are not only tithing from our business but also giving or sowing seeds in the name of our business, church, or ministry, just like we do from our own personal income.

Even Abraham apportioned a tenth of ALL the spoils on behalf of the nation of Israel to the High Priest! (Hebrews 7:1,2; Gen. 14:18-20). Your business or church can be a great philanthropist extending God’s hands in the earth.

If you’ve never done this before, I challenge you to step out by faith and “test God in this.” In Mal. 3:10 it is the ONLY place in the Bible where God says we can test Him. That He will open up the windows of heaven and pour out a blessing until it OVERFLOWS.

Starting this habit from the beginning is much easier but even if you’re just wanting to start it after your business or church is established, ask God to help you in this area and He will because He wants you to come in line with His system He has put in place.

Teach your children to tithe from their very first job so that they establish a habit of honoring God. Without His help and empowerment, they wouldn’t have the ability to push a lawnmower or babysit some kids. 🙂

And then our children will prosper in all they do, too!

Is it selfish to WANT TO PROSPER? I believe it’s selfish not to.

To not want to prosper is to be out of sync with God’s system.

Everything multiplies after its kind. It is the law of seed time and harvest. Even humans must participate in His order of a seed being sown in a woman to produce offspring. It is selfish to not partner with God and reach for more because you feel you and your family are fine living with little. But nobody says you have to hoard it for yourself. God said that ALL of your needs would be met in full AND that you’d have PLENTY LEFTOVER TO GIVE TO EVERY GOOD WORK! (2 Cor. 9:8). This is where GIVING GETS FUN!! God allows US to decide where we want to GIVE by the leading of Holy Spirit!

It will require MORE RESPONSIBILITY to steward more and some people aren’t willing to do it, just like the man who hid his talents. God considered that to be wickedness.

We can and should BELIEVE TO BE RICH because rich simply means HAVING A FULL SUPPLY. And if you live in the USA you are ALREADY extremely rich in comparison to 90% of the world.

Also, because everything multiplies after its own kind, you will reap a harvest on what seeds you sow. And your giving can be so much more than financial! In the natural, you don’t sow tomato seeds and get apples. If you sow of your time, you will reap in that area, if you sow meals you will reap meals, if you sow money you will reap money.

Money is neutral. It’s a tool that takes on the persona of the one holding it. You can either do more good and live in generosity more fully with it or do more evil and live into selfishness with it.

Giving is God’s HIGHEST nature for He loved us SO MUCH THAT HE GAVE! What are some ways that YOU enjoy giving? How are you building or FUNDING God’s kingdom? ~Be Blessed, Jenny xoxo
