BREAKTHROUGH Happens When We PRAISE!

Coming off the heels of an incredible worship night at church has got me reflecting on the importance of PRAISE.

It is right to go to our Father in prayer and make our requests known to Him.

The Bible says, “You have not because you ask not.” James 4:2

Jesus said, “Whatever you ask in My name, that will I do, so that the Father may be glorified in the Son. If you ask Me anything in My name, I will do it.” John 14:13

Many ask, “Why do I need to ask Him if He already knows what I need?”

Well, firstly because He instructed us to do so.

Secondly, because it is the way we RELEASE our faith.

Because faith is not only what we BELIEVE, but what we BELIEVE, SPEAK, and ACT upon!

It’s more than just believing God CAN do it, but believing that He CAN, WILL, and IS MIGHTILY WORKING IT OUT RIGHT NOW!

So, when we PRAY we are now mentally and emotionally UNBURDENED by that thing we are wanting to see changed.

We have made a spiritual transaction in a manner of speaking. We have TRANSFERRED the assignment of it from OUR HANDS to GOD’S HANDS!

This is why it saddens me that many churches no longer “come to the altar” in order to symbolically lay a burden at the Lord’s feet.

It is a wonderful, tangible reminder when that thing tries to “dog” your mind later in the week, you have a point of reference to say, “No, devil! I GAVE that concern to God and I WILL NOT take it back! God is FAITHFUL to work it out for me!”

But once we’ve unburdened ourselves, we are not done yet. Part of faith is BELIEVING that we HAVE the requests we’ve made of Him RIGHT NOW! BEFORE WE PHYSICALLY SEE IT! (Mark 11:24)

So, it is right and honoring of Him to give Him the sacrifice of PRAISE BEFORE WE SEE it!

It’s a sacrifice because we don’t always FEEL like PRAISING when things are going wrong. But anyone can praise when things are going well. Even the world lifts their hands and shouts when their team is winning, right?

But it demonstrates to God that we trust Him and believe He is faithful when we PRAISE! That’s when the BREAKTHROUGH comes!!!

I encourage you this week when you are facing something difficult, rather than complain, LIFT UP A PRAISE to Him! You’ll be amazed at how that alone will also LIFT YOU UP! Because God doesn’t NEED our praise! He doesn’t have an ego, but He knows it’s what WE NEED.

When you are faced with pain or sickness, confess the healing you are needing, but then PRAISE Him for ALL the parts of your body that ARE WORKING WELL!!

When you are faced with a debt you believe to be paid, start praising Him and magnifying ALL the wonderful things He has ALREADY provided: your warm home, your car, your food, and know with confidence that He is MORE THAN ABLE to provide for this other little bill, too!
